Day 2: 'Tumbbad' vs 'Jalebi' vs 'FryDay' vs 'Helicopter Eela'

15th October 2018

The previous weekend witnessed four feature films hitting the silver screen including the Soham Shah starrer horror film 'Tumbbad', Pushpdeep Bhardwaj directorial 'Jalebi', Abhishek Dogra directed 'FryDay' and the Kajol and Riddhi Sen starrer 'Helicopter Eela'.

Although Tumbbad and FryDay earned appreciation from the critics, Jalebi and Helicopter Eela didn't lay an impact to the critics as well as the audiences. In fact, the Govinda and Varun Sharma starrer got the lowest numbers in the box-office out of all. On day one it raked 25 lakhs whereas on day 2 it didn't show convincing growth minting 35 lakhs standing with 65 lakhs to sup up day two gross. Even the Mukesh Bhatt venture was off to a dull start and encashed 40 Lakhs on the opening day with a 50% growth it raked 60 lakhs on Day 2.

Although the Kajol starrer Helicopter Eela also disappointed the audiences and started below par by minting 75 lakhs on day 1 and but raked 1.1 crores on its second day making the collection of the film stand at 1.85 cr. Although the surprise package turns out to be Tumbbad a horror film as it started off with 50 Lakhs and showcasing a 100% growth on Day 02, the film doubled the amount on Saturday. Tumbbad raked 1 cr on the second day and looks like strong word of mouth publicity has done the trick.
