Not Atal Bihari Vajpayee, it is Ram Avatar Bhardawaj

25th June 2018

The makers of 'Accidental Prime-minister' have revealed a new still from the film where we see former Prime Minister of India, Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee shaking hands with Manmohan Singh aka Anupam Kher. No, we got absolutely bluffed! It is not the former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee but the debutant actor Ram Avatar Bhardawaj who will essay the role of Atal ji.

With high-tech prosthetics and superficial makeup, what we witness is an exact replica of the legendary PM of the NDA government. Anupam Kher shared the still via his official twitter handle and captioned it, "Introducing Shri. Ram Avatar Bhardawaj as former Prime Minister #AtalBihariVajpayeeji in the movie #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister.🙏😍 @TAPMofficial."

The film is a very bold move as it goes on resembling the real-life politicians.

Earlier, German actress Suzanne Bernert playing the role of former Indian National Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and it seem surreal. Speaking about the film, Anupam said, "The opportunity of portraying a contemporary personality like Dr Manmohan Singh in 'The Accidental Prime Minister' is an immense challenge for me as an actor. He is part of a 24/7 media era where the world knows his persona minutely. I have been internalising this character for the past few months. I look forward to translating that effort into cinematic reality."

The film is based on Manmohan Singh's advisor Sanjaya Baru's book. Akshaye Khanna is set to essay his role. Helmed by Vijay Gutte, 'The Accidental Prime Minister' is slated to release on 21st December.
