(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Aaron Eckhart has vowed not to get another dog until he finds a wife.

The 42-year-old actor is currently single but dreams of meeting his perfect woman and settling down. He has played a number of characters who have complex relationships in movies such as Rabbit Hole, In the Company of Men and No Reservations and admits he isnt an easy person to get to know.

Although Aaron is a huge animal lover and was left devastated when his beloved dog died a few years ago, he wants to get married before he allows another pet to share his home.

Ive got to get a wife at some point. If I get a dog Ill never get a wife. Id like a harem of dogs, wiener dogs all the way up to great danes. But Ill never settle down until I get a wife, he explained in an interview with British newspaper The Daily Telegraph. People say: Oh, you want the perfect wife. Well, actually, I do.

Im fascinated by people who stay together. My parents have been married 48 years. Ive not been able to recreate that. I find it difficult to be with people intimately for so long.

Aarons latest big screen outing was in Rabbit Hole alongside Nicole Kidman. In the movie, they play a married couple whose lives fall apart when their son is killed in a road accident.

Aaron has no children of his own yet, but drew on his experience of losing his dog to prepare for the role. Although he realises there is no comparison in the grief, he shared a close bond with his pet and finds life lonely without the pooch.

Well, I can tell you my dog died. I had strong feelings about that. I still do. I know its not your child. I had been on the promotion tour for Batman. I came home and Dirty died a few days later. When I came home he was wagging his tail and looked great. Theres no doubt in my mind he waited to say goodbye, he added sadly. I still have all the leashes displayed prominently. I have pictures everywhere and I still look at his pictures. I still find hairs of his. I talk about him all the time. (C) Cover Media
