His first commercial film ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ has apparently changed Abhay’s taste and his view towards cinema. Abhay Deol who till now experimented with unconventional films and genres, was so influenced by the dancing aspect of commercial cinema that he has decided to turn an ‘item’ boy for his next movie ‘Rock the Shaadi’. However the song 'Senorita' which inspired him to dance has apparently also influenced him to sing again. In the song 'Senorita', he had also lent his voice and so in ‘Rock the Shaadi’ too he has decided to croon to the rock tunes. Abhay plays the member of a rock band in 'Rock the Shaadi' and like his ‘ZNMD’ co-star Farhan Akhtar, he too will sing as a reel rockstar.

The film is produced by Ekta Kapoor and has Genelia D’Souza opposite him in the film. ‘Rock the Shaadi’ is directed by Navdeep Singh and expected to release next year. The rock based music of the film will be composed by Ram Sampath of ‘Dehli Belly’ fame.
