The 18-year-old star found fame after reaching the semi-finals of the first season of Americans Got Talent. After that she was signed to Jay-Z and production group Stargate label Star Roc/Roc Nation, and has achieved chart success in countries including the US, Australia and Britain.

Although Alexis loves her job she admits it has impacted other areas of her life, although she tries to stay in contact with her friends as much as possible.

I still have my Blackberry, I tweet and sometimes I go shopping with my friends, she said. But Ive made sacrifices to do what I love.

Alexis mother is her manager, and if she cant accompany her to events another member of her family goes instead. That ensures the young star remains grounded, although she does have lofty ambitions.
