Alicia Keys equates potty training to attending boot camp.
The Fallin' singer shares 23-month-old son Egypt Daoud with husband Swizz Beatz.
Alicia admitted that she had to take a tough approach when teaching Egypt how to use the toilet.
"Basically, [you have to] take them to the military!" she explained to People magazine. "I took him to the military! No, it's really just consistency and love and support and it was just amazing."
The 31-year-old mother brought Egypt and Swizz along with her to last night's MTV Video Music Awards, where she performed Girl on Fire off of her upcoming album. Alicia shares a wide range of her personal experiences as a mother and musician with fans on the intimate record.
"It really talks about each part of our lives as human beings, and it has a ton of variety [and] takes you on all these different journeys," Alicia said. "It's powerful stuff, and I think you're going to really love it."
