Amy Adams falls in love with gowns

5th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Star Style - Amy Adams calls her red-carpet closet her Cinderella wardrobe.

The actress hasnt always been a fan of fashion, but is learning how much a flattering dress or beautiful pair of shoes can improve her confidence. She has a stylist who helps her get ready for glitzy industry events, and loves the fact she gets to wear posh dresses just once before they are sent back to the designer.

For me, I fall in love with the dresses more than the designer. I call it my Cinderella wardrobe and I probably value it more than if I owned it, she laughed. Because if I owned it, Id zip it up and it would stay in the back of my closet. But getting to wear it, then sending it off, it just has its own special memory.

Amy has been nominated for the best supporting actress Oscar twice, for 2005s Junebug and 2008 movie Doubt. Getting ready for the first ceremony had a particular effect on her, as she began to realise how much her life and style was going to change.

I was still living in the apartment I first lived in, where the carpet had not been replaced since the building was built in the 70s, she explained to British magazine InStyle. Bringing the handmade Carolina Herrera Oscar dress into that place was like, Dont touch anything! I was able to see the irony of getting dressed up and going in presenting yourself as this successful actress and youre living in an apartment that, at the time, was all I could afford.
