(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Amy Winehouse has recorded a new single.
The 26-year-old British soul singer has laid down a track for music legend Quincy Jones upcoming tribute album Soul Bossa Nostra. Quincy said Amy had reunited with producer Mark Ronson to record a cover of the 1963 classic Its My Party for his album, which is due out in November.
Quincy, 77, produced the original Lesley Gore track.
It is the first new material Amy has released since her multi-Grammy Award-winning 2006 record Back to Black, which was produced by Ronson, and he says she is thrilled to be in the studio again.
"Amy and I are both incredibly honoured and excited to be recording this song for Quincy. The regard she holds him in is second to none," Ronson said in a statement released yesterday. "We've gone back and forth on this track, fixing and improving it until we were satisfied it was good enough for Quincy."
Quincy is equally excited about Amy and Ronsons involvement. He is a huge fan of Amys voice, and thinks Ronson is also extremely talented.
"Amy's talents as an artist are undisputable and I am astounded not only by her voice but by her tremendous knowledge of and respect for music and its history," Quincy said in a statement. "I am thrilled that she and Mark wanted to be a part of this album and I absolutely love what they did to make the song their own."
Soul Bossa Nostra is a retrospective of Quincys long career, and features new versions of songs he has produced in the past 40 years. Usher, Ludacris, Akon, Jamie Foxx, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, T-Pain and LL Cool J have all recorded vocals for the album. (C) Cover Media
