Anne Hathaway had "a smile on her face all night long" at her engagement party.

The actress became betrothed to Adam Shulman last November and they celebrated their engagement with an intimate bash in New York last Saturday.

According to a source, the brunette beauty wore a navy blue cocktail dress with silver detailing and couldn't stop gazing at her gorgeous engagement ring.

"I caught her catching a glimpse of her ring a few times," the insider told US publication People. "Anne had a smile on her face all night long. With every friend and family member that approached her, that smile just got brighter."

Anne and her partner opted for low-key celebrations with only friends and family on the guest list.

The event was hosted by the couple's parents at Housing Works Bookstore Caf in SoHo.

"Some of the family was meeting each other for the first time. It was so very important for them to just have an amazing time introducing their families and making sure that everyone they knew and loved was on board," the source said.

The party reflected Anne's tastes from the vegetarian menu to the flower arrangements.

Guests were served vegan burgers, cupcakes and truffle macaroni and cheese, prepared by charity division The Works Catering.

The space was decorated with plum-coloured flowers tucked inside mini bell jars, which were arranged by floral designer Rebecca Shepherd.

"There wasn't too much pink," the source added. "Anne doesn't like pink too much."

The happy couple toasted their family and friends with champagne.

According to the insider, an air of goodwill and well wishes filled the room.

"There was just a lot of gratitude all night long. They just seemed to be happier than most couples," the source said.
