Arnold Schwarzenegger sealing financial details'

7th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver have reportedly requested the financial records be sealed in their divorce battle.

Maria filed for divorce in Los Angeles last week, citing irreconcilable differences for the split. The couple had announced in May that they were calling time on their 25-year marriage amid Arnold's confession that he fathered a love child more than a decade ago.

Even though Maria only lodged the legal papers on July 1, her lawyer Laura Wasser has been discussing a settlement with Bob Kaufman who represents Arnold for several weeks. It has been reported they will ask for the financial information to be kept out of the public domain.

"It's anticipated that Arnold or Maria's respective attorneys will formally file a motion to seal all financial records in the divorce case. Maria nor Arnold want their financial information released to the public," a source told RadarOnline. "Arnold did have to file financial disclosure forms when he was the Governor of California, but he doesn't want details released about his net worth. Maria is fiercely protective of her financial holdings as well. Maria inherited a great deal of money after both of her parents died, and she doesn't want those details out in the public."

It has been claimed Arnold is willing to offer Maria a generous settlement. The pair reportedly didn't sign a prenuptial agreement and under California law all earnings and property acquired during a marriage must be divided up equally. However, Arnold is believed to be ready to offer her a significant amount of his estimated $300 million fortune to allow both parties to move on with their lives.

"Arnold realises he is to blame for the collapse of his marriage. Maria was a loving wife and mother, and he doesn't think that any amount of money can minimise what he has put her through," a source told RadarOnline. "He wants to do the right thing, and go above and beyond what is required of him under the law."

The pair plan to share custody of their minor children Patrick, 17, and Christopher, 13. (C) Cover Media
