December 7, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Miss India, Nicole Faria, has made the country proud by winning the Miss Earth 2010 crown, which was held in Vietnam on Saturday. Faria is a 20-year-old model from Bangalore who beat 83 other participants to win the crown.
The 10th edition of the international beauty pageant, which has been televised, was held at Vinpearl Land in Nha Trang. This pageant focused on preservation and environment care. Larissa Ramos, the Miss Earth 2009 from Brazil, crowned her.
Faria earlier won the Miss Talent title for her performance of a graceful belly dance, which was a blend of Middle Eastern and Oriental styles. As part of her prizes for winning the Femina Miss Earth India 2010, Faria has got the opportunity to enter the show business.
The Miss Earth contest was held for the first time outside Philippines this year. Miss Ecuador Jennifer Pazmino has been crowned as Miss Air (1st runner-up), Miss Thailand Watsaporn Wattanakoon won Miss Water (2nd runner-up) and Miss Puerto Rico Yeidy Bosques has been crowned Miss Fire (3rd runner-up).
Miss India World 2010, Manasvi Mamgai was quoted saying that she is very happy for Nicole because she is the only one to bring the crown to India this year.
Nicole said that she wants to enjoy her stay in Vietnam by making new friends.
