Bombay Velvet song is inspired by Nanavati's case

6th May 2015

The title song of Anurag Kashyap's big shot forthcoming, 'Bombay Velvet' is rumored to be based on 1959 Nanavati case.

Performed by Anushka Sharma's character Rosie and sung by Neeti Mohan, the song is the crux of the movie.

Kashyap expressed, "Sylvia was the name of Nanavati's wife. The song is inspired by the tabloid perception of the story."

KM Nanavati vs State of Maharashtra was a 1959 Indian court case where Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati, a Naval Commander, was tried for the murder of Prem Ahuja, his wife's lover.

The case was also India's first media trial provoked by high charged coverage of that time.

The film is all set to release on May 15th.
