Bridget Jones 3 being discussed'

8th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Plans to make Bridget Jones 3 are still in the "early stages of discussion".

The movie has been in the works for some time now, but there are reportedly still several complex negotiations to be finalised. Paul Feig, who directed comedy Bridesmaids, is interested in helming the project. However, the franchise's stars including Rene Zellweger, Colin Firth and Hugh Grant are yet to hammer out a deal to reprise their roles.

Feig has told British newspaper Daily Mail he is "beyond keen" to make the film in London, UK, but there are fears about his hectic work schedule.

"An executive in Los Angeles, who is close to one of the film's participants, says that negotiations have been fragile because Feig and the cast have other projects; and then there are the usual problems of schedules and money," the publication reports.

Helen Fielding, who created the character of Bridget Jones for a British newspaper, has already written a script for the new movie. The plotline sees the hapless heroine desperately trying to get pregnant, but it is unclear who she will have a baby with love rat Daniel Cleaver, played by Grant, or Firth's reliable Mark Darcy.

Firth has previously revealed he would sign on to another instalment of the popular movies, if he liked the script.

"A sequel is one thing, but a third, now that they've aged a bit, could be far more interesting," he previously told Extra. (C) Cover Media
