Channing Tatum thinks some of his topless scenes in The Vow are "gratuitous".
The actor plays Leo in the new movie, which also stars Rachel McAdams as Paige. The character suffers memory loss after an accident and the film follows Leo as he tries to win her heart again.
Channing is known for his hunky physique and wasn't surprised when he was asked to go topless during the shoot.
"It was very gratuitous," he said of the scene in which he took rubbish out of his home without a shirt on.
"It was like, 'Do I really need to have my shirt off to take out the garbage while eating a piece of pizza and picking up a cat?' Shirtless? Was that really necessary?"
The actor also bares his butt in The Vow, but was more comfortable with that scene. He felt it was integral to the storyline as it revealed a great deal about Paige and Leo's relationship.
"That wasn't gratuitous. That was necessary," he told E! Online.
Channing's wife Jenna Dewan has no qualms about her husband stripping for his job. She thinks it's a cunning move by film bosses as it's bound to ensure his picture is a success.
"I was like, 'There's his butt on the screen,'" she laughed. "But it's completely screen-worthy... It's definitely going to be something people rewind and play."
