(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Cheryl Cole has been offered 3 million to be a judge on the US version of The X Factor, according to sources.

The British pop star found fame with Girls Aloud, although she has since gone on to launch a successful solo career, working with stars including will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas.

Cheryl is also a judge and mentor on UK television singing competition The X Factor, along with the shows creator, music mogul Simon Cowell, Australian pop star Dannii Minogue and Irish pop group manager Louis Walsh.

Simon has been exporting the successful format across the globe, and it will be transported to America next year, with Cheryl reportedly set to receive a large sum of money to be a judge.

The 27-year-old has discovered that shes landed a place on the judging panel of the US version of The X Factor, according to a source, in a deal worth up to 3 million, reports British newspaper The Daily Mail.

Last week, Simon explained that he would be announcing the judges for the US edition in December, and claimed people would be shocked by his choices. The 51-year-old hinted that one of his chosen judges has long locks, but other than that he remained tight lipped.

Im going to make an announcement within three or four weeks, which is going to tell everyone everything. There will be some surprises, he teased. OK, one of the judges has quite long hair.

It is believed former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger is also in the running, as she impressed Simon when she acted as a guest judge on the UK edition of the programme during the summer. (C) Cover Media
