October 15, 2010 (Sampurn Wire): Filmmaker Siddharth Anand has purchased the rights of making movie on Chetan Bhagats latest bestseller titled 2 States. Anand has roped in Saif Ali Khan to play the lead role in his movie.
It is said that filmmaker Aditya Chopra suggested Siddharth to get the movie rights of Chetans novel. However, one will be wondering why Chopra did not make the movie himself if he liked the idea.
Unlike his other films, Siddharth is planning to shoot this film entirely in India. Confirming the news, the director was quoted saying that he is making a movie on Bhagats novel 2 States, which will be a contemporary comedy. He added that it will be a little different for him because the film will be shot in India unlike other four films of him. His earlier four films are Anjaana Anjaani (2010), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008), Ta Ra Rum Pum (2007), Salaam Namaste (2005).
Anand added he fell in love with the story as he bought the book and read it. Then he contacted the writer Chetan Bhagat, who was already in the process of negotiation with other filmmakers. He said that they connected instantly and he got lucky to obtain the rights.
The director insisted that the movie will not be a carbon copy of the book. Sajid Nadiadwala will be producing the film. The film will be shot throughout India including Delhi, Goa and Ahmedabad.
