The 30-year-old American star is starring in the title role of the upcoming comic book movie, Captain America: The First Avenger.

Chris was cast in the coveted part after a host of other actors including Garrett Hedlund, Wilson Bethel, John Krasinski and Mike Vogel were also linked to the role.

Chris, who has also starred as the Human Torch in Fantastic Four and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, says the character could be perceived as "bland" because of his good nature.

"He has this sense of indestructible morals and values. He's an incredibly good man, he doesn't have too much baggage, which obviously runs the risk of being bland," he explained in an interview with SciFi Now.

Chris insists the part of Captain America is the most "interesting" he has ever played. The Hollywood actor admires his character's resilience to the evil that goes on in the world around him.

"What I found interesting about him is that it's not easy to be a good person all the time, it's not easy to have a sense of morals, to have a selflessness in the face of what he's been presented with. It's easy to become bitter or jaded and have a chip on your shoulder, an attitude, or take it out on the world around you, but this guy just doesn't," he mused. "In the face of all of it, he manages to be a good man, and that alone in such an interesting person." (C) Cover Media
