(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Chris Hemsworth says eating 20 pancakes wasnt quite the best preparation before baring his chest in Thor.
The Australian actor has landed the title role in Kenneth Branaghs highly-anticipated movie. The 27-year-old plays warrior Thor, who is cast out of the realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth, where he soon becomes one of their powerful defenders.
Chris felt under pressure to look good for the scenes where he had to flex his torso. The star has revealed the previous days shooting was not quite the preparation he was hoping for, as he had to eat copious amounts of fattening food.
I had a good five or six months of working out beforehand. For that particular scene youre off set, doing push ups, trying to pump up, and then youre supposed to walk on and act. Its ridiculous because youre out of breath! he said in an interview with the BBC. The day before, we shot the scene where Thor was throwing down tons of pancakes and steak and whatever and at the end of the day Id eaten something like 20 pancakes and these steaks, so it wasnt quite the best preparation for that particular scene.
Before he made it in Hollywood, Chris starred in Australian television show Home and Away. The actor says the experience prepared him for the female attention he is likely to experience after women flock to see him in Thor.
I worked on a TV show back in Australia and there was an element of that then, he mused when asked how he felt about female attention. I went through that, came to America and I was able to start again and think about that period and how I approached it. Im more prepared for it now. That said, who knows. I feel like Ive got my feet on the ground and got the right people to beat me into place if needs be. (C) Cover Media
