Chris Pine: I'd steal Bond role

31st January 2012

Chris Pine "might try to steal" the James Bond role from Daniel Craig.

The actor joked that while the current 007 is playing the part well, he'd love to have a go himself.

The star is currently promoting new movie This Means War, which tells the story of two spy friends who turn on each other in the battle to win a woman's heart.

Now he has learnt surveillance skills and gadgetry for his role as Frank a.k.a. FDR, Chris would love to portray the iconic spy.

"God, what dude wouldn't wanna do that? Are you kidding me?" he told Cover Media at the London premiere of This Means War. "But Daniel Craig is doing a great job. But I might try and steal it from him."

The Hollywood heartthrob went on to discuss his role in the new movie. He insisted that he would be a lot nicer than his character if he found himself in a romantic conflict with a friend.

He has also never deployed dirty tactics to steal a girl from a pal.

"No It's a difficult territory to be in," he said. "If my buddy is falling in love with a woman that I'm kind of interested in, but I'm not in love with, it's my buddy's deal. You have to gage if it's love or if it's lust. But I don't know, I've never been there."

This Means War is released in UK cinemas on March 2.
