(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Christina Aguilera says becoming a mother encouraged her to help underprivileged children.

The 30-year-old singer has one son, Max - who turns three on January 12 - with estranged husband Jordan Bratman.

Christina has revealed welcoming Max into the world inspired her to do more to help less well-off infants, notably those who are severely malnourished.

After I became a mom, I felt passionate about the fact that no child should go hungry. Food is not a luxury, she explained in an interview with the UK edition of InStyle.

The talented star was spurred on to work with international peace-seeking organisation the United Nations (UN), where she has been involved in numerous charitable ventures. The star is an ambassador for the UNs World Food Programme (WFP), which is helping encourage self-sustainability across the globe.

The star is proud of her achievements, and has helped feed millions of people through her involvement.

One of Christinas most touching moments was travelling to Haiti after the country suffered a devastating earthquake in January last year. Despite being horrified by what she encountered, Christina found the Haitian people incredibly inspiring.

Through my involvement, Ive helped the WFP raise $12 million thats a staggering 43.5 million meals.

Ive seen swollen bellies and hair thats turned white from lack of nutrition, and yet some of the people Ive met have such optimism; its incredible. One kid in Haiti was telling me how he adores school. He never misses a day, he dreams of becoming a doctor, she enthused.

That sort of thing makes you want to work that much harder for those kids who truly want to succeed and rise above whatever theyre going through. (C) Cover Media
