(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Christina Aguilera has vowed she wont tear people down in her new television show.
The singing superstar was recently unveiled as a vocal coach who will give advice to budding artists on American talent series The Voice. She has joined fellow coaches Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green in the series which will be presented by Carson Daly.
Christina insists The Voice is not like other musical talent shows which see acerbic judges criticising the contestants. She wants to nurture new musicians and give them the confidence to succeed.
There is no good and bad. This isnt about tearing people down. I want to bring these people up, she said. The Voice really does stand for what it says. Instinctually, you can judge people based on the way they look. I love that fact we get to sit here with our backs turned away from these people and completely use just one sense to hear these voices.
Its less about being judgmental and more about helping them out, Adam added.
In the show, wannabe singers will audition for the vocal coaches, who will have their backs turned during their performance. If one of the coaches hear a voice they like they must press a red button and then can turn around to face the person who has been singing. Each contestant who makes it through will be given advice by Christina, Adam or Cee Lo before a chosen few will make it through to perform on live television. The person who wins the show will be given a recording contract and $100,000.
Christina who is known for her booming vocals insists she isnt just interested in finding singers with a big voice. She wants to hear people who can put emotion into their performances.
Im not looking for vocal acrobatics, who has biggest range of high and low, she explained. Im looking forward to getting moved. (C) Cover Media
