Colin Firth dedicates star to wife

14th January 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Colin Firth believes his wife should get his Hollywood star.

The British actor was presented with the prestigious honour on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in America yesterday.

The 50-year-old is tipped to win an Oscar for his performance in new film The Kings Speech, but the modest actor credits his wife Livia with his success in the industry.

"When I look down there at that star, it's her name I see," he said in his speech. "I want to thank everybody that has accompanied me on this extraordinary journey, but probably more than anybody I could ever imagine Livia who has walked every step of this with me joyfully and truthfully."

Colin, who has also starred as Mr. Darcy in a UK adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, was seen wiping away a teardrop when his star was unveiled.

However, the dark-haired actor was too coy to admit the honour had moved him to cry.

"You can make of it what you will, it was the wind," he laughed.

Colin has claimed the 2,429th star, which is located next to that of fellow British talent Emma Thompson.

He joked that in years to come, he and Emma would be sitting next to their stars, busking for money together.

"I have a feeling I'm going to be here when I'm about 93 under a pile of blankets asking for spare change and trying to convince anyone that will listen that I'm the guy whose name is on the sidewalk - failing to recognise that the old lady next to me is in fact Emma Thompson," he said.
