January 29, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): On Thursday afternoon, CW announced its plan of postponing the premieres of the shows Supernatural and Smallville for one week. However, the channel is now facing the ire of fans of the shows, who are hitting at Twitter and blogs against the decision.
The postponement of the mid-season premieres was waited by many fans but they could not digest this sudden delay. As per the CW representatives, the decision was taken to keep the networks top show The Vampire Diaries unaffected. On Wednesday night, the network was expecting a huge drop in ratings for the rerun of The Vampire Diaries and Nikita. So, they wanted to avoid competition with Idol by airing the reruns of the shows on Friday to get maximum viewership.
But, the expected downfall of ratings did not happen for the two shows and viewership remained consistent as the loyal fans of the horror show stuck to it. So, it indicated that there was no need to postpone the premieres of Smallville and Supernatural.
Now the CW network is being backfired for their hasty decision. The fans are now not stopping to speak against the decision on Twitter and blogs.
We hope the network soon realizes its mistake and does not repeat such hasty decision in future.
