(Cover) - EN Movies - Daniel Craig admits he wasn't the obvious choice to play a gunslinger in Cowboys & Aliens.

The British hunk portrays a grizzled cowboy alongside Harrison Ford in Jon Favreau's new sci-fi film. Daniel grew up playing with toy guns but never dreamed he would ever have the chance to appear in a western movie.

Accepting it may have seemed a "strange choice" to cast him in the role, Daniel insists he has wanted to play a cowboy "for as long as I can remember".

"I had a toy Winchester. You pump a few rounds, fall over and die. That's the reason I became an actor. I finally got here, though it's taken me 25 years," he told USA Today.

Jon revealed that while Daniel doesn't get any more British after playing suave spy James Bond, it was his eyes that convinced the director he was perfect for the cowboy part.

"It's the look, the strong blue eyes. It's the gunfighter glare he has. It occurred to me how much he looks like Steve McQueen in The Magnificent Seven," Jon explained. (C) Cover Media
