The greatest animal lover of Kannada cinema, challenging star Darshan, has adopted a baby elephant this year too, by paying Rs.35000 for one year. He adopted a baby elephant in the Mysore Zoo for one year in 2010. As we all know, Darshan has a mini zoo in his house in Mysore. He is fond of horses and he has some birds and dogs in his house. Darshan is good at horse riding. He has taken up other social causes and he is now helping his brother and four others by offering a free call sheet for a Kannada film.

He is doing work with no remuneration for five important personalities – director MD Sridhar, his brother Dinakar Toogudeepa, music V Harikrishna, lyricist Kaviraj and cameraman Krishna Kumar in the film that is yet untitled. MD Sridhar, who directed Darshan in 'Porki', will be directing the film.
