(Cover) - EN Showbiz - David Schwimmer's wife has given birth to a girl.

The actor and his spouse Zoe Buckman announced they were expecting their first child together in December.

His representative has now confirmed to People that Zoe gave birth to a daughter in New York on May 8. David and Zoe have called the baby Cleo Buckman Schwimmer, and mother and child are doing well.

David, 44, met his British wife in London in 2007 when he was working on the film Run, Fat Boy, Run. They got married in June last year, although they managed to keep the nuptials secret until October.

David has spoken about his desire to have a family in the past. He recently explained he plans to have an open relationship with his kids as he thinks that's the best way to ensure youngsters don't go astray.

"There are countless things to try to control or spy on your kids, but really experts say the number one thing you should do is just have that relationship with your kids and be present as a parent, communicative," he said. "Try to get your kids to trust that they can tell you who they are talking to online and what they are doing." (C) Cover Media
