(Cover) - EN Fashion - Donna Karan says black is a fashion staple because it allows the person to shine through.
The legendary designer is well-known for her love of the dark hue. Her debut collection only featured black items, and she wears the colour more than any other. Although some claim it is drab Donna doesnt agree, insisting it is about making the shade work for you.
It goes day to night. You can dress it up or down, she explained. With colour, you see the colour first. With black, you see the person first. I would say my closet is mostly black, but Ive been really obsessed with a new blue-grey. I call it the new black.
Donna is equally open about the pressure on women to stay thin. She insists it isnt healthy to continually be on a diet, and thinks it shows when women are worrying about their figures. She wants females to embrace their shape even if it isnt perfect, explaining then they will find clothes begin to look better on their bodies.
Its about the woman inside, not the clothes. Whether youre in a ball gown or just jeans and a T-shirt, if youre comfortable, youll look great. If you have great legs, show them, she told the British edition of Grazia magazine. You can hide the part of your body you dont like and expose the parts you like. Its not about being fat or thin. Ask yourself what it is about a certain person that means you cant take your eyes off them? Its an energetic force. (C) Cover Media
