Dr. APJ Kalam praises Krishnaveni Panjaalai

9th January 2012

The troubles and travails of cotton mill workers in and around Tirupur and Coimbatore have been chronicled in "Krishnaveni Panjaalai". A period film, it is set between  the era of 1950 and 1990.

Directed by Dhanapal, the movie features Hemachandran and Nandhana in the lead. "Thenmerkku Paruvakaatru" fame Raghunandhan has scored the music.

Speaking about the film, the director says, 'I got an opportunity to narrate the story to former President of India A P J Abdul Kalam. He was impressed with the story and told me to do it as a movie. That encouraged me'.

Thanking Kalam for releasing the audio of the movie at a function in Chennai recently, Dhanapal says, 'Hemachandran and Nandhana have played their part well. They were given hands-on training before we started the shoot.'

The film is not preachy, we have enough elements to entertain the masses,' he adds.
