(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Victoria Beckham has asked her close friend Eva Longoria to be her unborn daughter's godmother, it has been reported.

The fashion designer is currently pregnant with her fourth child and is due to give birth next month. Victoria and her soccer star husband David spent some time deciding who to choose for the special role in their daughter's life and they are confident the actress will be the perfect choice.

"Victoria ran it past David and they both want Eva," a source told British newspaper The Sun. "She's extremely honoured."

Other famous faces that were considered for the godparent role include Britain's Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Heidi Klum and her husband Seal and also celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana.

Victoria is set to have a caesarean in Los Angeles on July 4 American Independence Day. Eva and celebrity hair stylist Ken Paves hosted a lavish baby shower for the 37-year-old star last month. Victoria was presented with a series of expensive presents for the impending arrival and guests attending included Demi Moore, Nicole Richie, Rachel Zoe and fellow expectant mom Selma Blair.

The singer-turned-designer was quick to thank Eva for organising the special bash, showing just how close the pair have become since Victoria and David moved to Los Angeles in 2007.

"Such a lovely day! Thank you so much Eva and Ken for being such wonderful friends," Victoria wrote on Twitter after the event. "Baby showers are so much fun!"

Sir Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley are godparents to Victoria's eldest two sons 12-year-old Brooklyn and Romeo, eight. (C) Cover Media
