Actress and Singer Evan Rachel Wood is turning 24 today! Rachel was born in Raleigh, North Carolina, on 7th September, 1987 to Ira David Wood III, a locally prominent actor, singer, theatre director of 'Theatre in the Park' and playwright; and Sara Lynn Moore, an actress, director and acting coach.

Evan Rachel Wood and her brothers were actively involved in 'Theatre in the Park' while growing up, including an appearance by her in the 1987 production of her father's internationally renowned musical comedy adaptation of A Christmas Carol when she was just a few months old.

Evan started out her career way back in 1994 appearing in several made-for-Television films and TV series. Her major breakthrough was the low-budget 1998 film 'Digging to China'. It won the children's Jury Award at the Chicago International Film Festival. Her real major film was in 2003 in the movie 'Thirteen' where she played the character of a young teenager who gets involved in hard drugs, sex and petty crime. Her performance in this movie landed her a nomination for a Golden Globe Award as Best Actress.

Evan showed off her singing skills in the movie 'Across The Universe', a musical movie based on The Beatles music. Since then, Evan has appeared in several films.

Her personal life has also been on the press radar constantly. Her relationship with Marilyn Manson was much talked about. In April 2011, Wood came out as bisexual in an interview with Esquire. Her professional  life and professionalism have managed to over-shadow the gossip surrounding her.
