Well-known film and television actress Gauhar Khan was slapped by a man in audience as the star hosted the grand finale of the recently concluded singing reality show India's Raw Star.

Someone from the audience slapped her during the finale for her skimpy outfit. In a report by the Aarey colony police, the man in the crowd questioned Gauhar over her behaviour and dress in context to religion.

According to the report he was quoted as saying, "being a Muslim woman, she should not have worn such a short dress," he said. A report in PTI states that the accused, identified as Mohammed Akil Mallick (24), slapped and touched her inappropriately during the break of the show.

By the time he could've been controlled by the security guard, he had already slapped Gauhar much to the shock of everyone. Senior inspector at Aarey police station, Vilas Chavan, told that the accused was subsequently arrested and booked under IPC sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
