George Michael considers rehab?

13th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - George Michael has hinted he is going to rehab, saying being in horrible prison made him realise he needs to change.

The 47-year-old singer was jailed last month after he admitted possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of drink or drugs. He received an eight-week sentence, but went free on Monday after serving just four.

The star spoke to reporters outside his north London home shortly after his release, saying he was hoping to start afresh. Yesterday, he left his property in a chauffeur-driven car and said he was heading to rehab. However, it is unknown whether he has actually checked into a clinic with sources claiming he is at another of his homes.

I want to beat my drug addiction and lead a normal life, George is quoted by British newspaper The Sun as saying. I don't want to end up back in prison. It's a very horrible place to be. You're not considered a person when you're inside, you're just a number and that freaked me out.

I have done wrong and paid my time for doing this stupid crime and I want to get my life back on track.

Georges partner Kenny Goss came home shortly after the singer had left. He insisted the rehab claims were nonsense, laughing George was probably just out walking their dogs. However, Georges car later returned without him, and the star hasnt been seen since. Kenny has since said his partner is relaxing.

If he said he was going into rehab, we have no reason to disbelieve him, a source told the newspaper.

Georges sentence stems from an incident in July, when he crashed his Range Rover into a photography store in the upmarket area of Hampstead in London. He was found in a dazed state, and later underwent a drugs test at a police station.

In August, the star admitted checking into a 14-day detox programme after the incident, and said he was seeking help for drug problems including counselling several times a week. (C) Cover Media
