Glenn Close: Character consumes me

19th December 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Glenn Close likes to "disappear" into her work.

The 64-year-old actress immerses herself fully in the character she is playing.

Glenn received numerous accolades for her starring role in Rodrigo Garca's upcoming drama Albert Nobbs.

While prepping for the role, Glenn spent months perfecting her mannerisms and voice to ensure she could convince people she was a man.

"It's not about pretending to be a man, it's just about disappearing," Glenn told Entertainment Weekly.

Dissolving into character has garnered Glenn five Academy-Award nominations, although she has never won an Oscar.

For her work in Albert Nobbs, the actress has been nominated for both a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Glenn is elated with the honours, but will not allow herself to worry about the outcome of the contest.

"I love hearing [about my nominations]!" Glenn gushed.

"As far as pressure - my husband rolls his eyeballs when I say this - but honestly, it's out of our hands. We made the movie that we're proud of." (C) Cover Media
