(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow is reportedly close to signing a record deal with Atlantic Records.
The 38-year-old star has turned her attentions to music in the past few months, after showing off her singing talents in her latest movie Country Strong. She also recently performed live at the Oscars ceremony, as well as the CMA Awards and the Grammy Awards.
Gwyneth is keen to release a solo album and is believed to in advanced talks with the Warner Music owned label.
"Gwyneth's agents have been talking to a number of labels about landing her a substantial record deal, a source told New York Post. Those who have heard the music say it's country pop. Many labels would be reluctant to give a deal to a star whose first priority is film, but in recent weeks there have been discussions with Atlantic. Gwyneth is a very different name for Atlantic, and one who brings a lot of recognition."
Gwyneth recently revealed she would consider releasing a stripped back country music album and would like to work with her close friend Jay-Z.
The Oscar-winning actress who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin famously sang and danced in an episode for the latest season of hit American television show Glee.
She is set to reprise her role as popular substitute teacher Holly Holiday and admits appearing in the musical series was a welcome break from the serious characters she usually plays in movies.
"I thought, 'How much fun it would it be to sing and dance and just be ridiculous and silly?' I'm just having so much fun, she explained. My parts were usually quite serious, and I was looking for something fun and different to do." (C) Cover Media
