Hansal Mehta to helm a web-series on 1992 Securities Scam

National award winner Hansal Mehta is best known for his work through critically acclaimed films like 'Shahid', 'CityLights', 'Aligarh' and also helming the successful web series Bose: Dead or Alive. Now the veteran director is all set to direct a new web-series under Applause Entertainment banner. 

Mehta's interaction with Sameer Nair, CEO of Applause Entertainment, and their similar interest for the book 'The Scam', authored by Sucheta Dalal and Debashish Basu, grabbed a web-series for the director. It is the very first season of this investigative crime drama made a 10- part series which unwinds one of the biggest financial scams in the Indian stock market.

Mehta said, "The Scam is an intriguing and gripping story. I’ve loved reading it. I'm extremely glad that meeting Sameer led to this association and I can’t wait to begin shooting!."

Sameer Nair added, "Having Hansal on-board is very exciting as we couldn’t have asked for a better director. Set in a very colourful period of Indian history, The Scam is one of the many stories that need to be told to a wider audience."

Applause Entertainment recently announced an exciting line-up of shows including Criminal Justice and The Office with BBC and City of Dreams with Nagesh Kukunoor. Ace casting director Mukesh Chabbra, along with Hansal, will now begin their hunt for the cast yet to be announced for this web-series.
