(Cover) - EN Movies - Hayley Atwell has revealed she did all her own stunts while filming Captain America: The First Avenger.

The actress, who has previously starred in a series of costume dramas including The Duchess alongside Keira Knightley, enjoyed getting tough in her role as Peggy Carter.

Hayley was put through a gruelling fitness regime to get in the right mental and physical shape for the sci-fi blockbuster.

"I do all my own stunts," she told Total Film from the set of the movie. "In fact when [the stuntwoman] comes on I'm like, I'm really sorry, but can you go away, otherwise it feels like a waste, all this training just to look good in a uniform!'"

The 29-year-old also revealed that she has learnt to love using firearms thanks to the role.

Hayley admitted that holding a gun makes her feel powerful and joked that it is useful for scaring people.

"I love firing a gun and the sense of responsibility that comes with it," she said. "You realise holding one makes a lot of people walk away really quickly." (C) Cover Media
