Hugh Grant: I lack beliefs

24th February 2012

Hugh Grant says he lacks "enough beliefs" to go into politics.

The actor explained that he is too understanding of both sides of an argument to fight passionately for a cause.

The star has recently been embroiled in a bitter battle for compensation in regards to the News International phone hacking scandal but stated privacy is the only issue that matters to him.

"I think I lack enough beliefs, or at least I am a serial relativist," he told Total Film. "I see both sides of every argument. I hear someone from the right peak and I say, That's right' and then I hear the guy from the left speak and say, No, that's right!'".

Speaking about his career in the movies, Hugh admits that there are many roles he played which make him cringe now.

He added that there are films that weren't incredibly popular but in which he rates his performance.

"They're all full of wince moments, of course," he said. "But About a Boy is not bad. A lot of people liked that film, but there are some others, which were much less fashionable, where I think I was quite good. For instance, Two Weeks Notice was quite a difficult performance. I think it's a good one, actually."
