January 13, 2011 (Sampurn Wire): There is collaboration between Toronto based IMAX and Paramount Pictures. It will culminate in the release of four movies that will be backed by IMAX. They are Super 8, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Transformers: Dark of the Moon,The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn.
This collaboration will prove beneficial as it will be screened on all IMAX screens worldwide along with the regular 35 mm release. Reports are doing the rounds that Super 8 will be released on June 10, 2011 and Transformers: Dark of the Moon will make their presence on July 1, 2011. IMAX also has plans to release three Walt Disney pictures in 2011. In addition to all that IMAX will also release the Warner Bros. movies as a part of their previous association.
In an interview, the Vice chairman of Paramount Pictures, Rob Moore, commented that the sharp increase in the demand has in fact led to the deal between IMAX and Paramount Picture which has led to greater formats than before. The buzz is also doing the rounds that Mission Impossible which is currently under production in Vancouver will also be shot with the IMAX cameras. Sony Pictures Entertainment is also the co-producer of The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn with Paramount and Sony Pictures Releasing International will also play a key role in promoting the films internationally.
The latest flicks from Mission Impossible and Transformers franchise are getting a larger format.
