19th March 2018

The entire film industry was taken by shock as Irrfan Khan was diagnosed with Neuro Endocrine tumour. A condition in which the neuroendocrine cells develop into tumours. However, there is a huge sigh of relief, when the doctors stated that Irrfan Khan's disease is curable and can be removed surgically.

Irrfan's doctor Saumitra Rawat, HOD, Surgical Gastroenterology & Liver Transplant of Sri Ganga Ram Hospital spoke to a leading tabloid, "It depends on the location of a tumour, its size, and what is its mitotic index. Depending on where a tumour is localized, you can take it out surgically and the chances of cure are very high. Once the procedure is done, the patient is required to have regular check-ups for any recurring tumours."

Talking further about what the disease exactly is and how can it be medicated she said "A Neuroendocrine tumour is an abnormal growth of Neuroendo cells which are present in bodies. When there is an abnormal growth, then it forms a tumor - Normally seen in intestine, pancreas, lung, thyroid and other parts of the body."

The actor will be seen in 'Blackmail' releasing on April 6, 2018.
