James Van Der Beek has dismissed reports that he named his baby son after his Dawson's Creek co-star.
The 35-year-old welcomed his baby boy, Joshua, three weeks ago leading to rumours that it was in honour of Joshua Jackson who he starred with in the hit television show.
But James, who is married to Kimberly Brook and also has 18-month-old daughter Olivia, says that Joshua's name wasn't in tribute.
"It doesn't [for that reason] at all," the Don't Trust the B---- in Apt. 23 actor told Us Weekly.
"It would have been cute, but no, it's something I did not even think about. It's a great name."
James added that his son is "amazing" and he is relishing life as a parent.
"I'm just in love," he gushed. "You don't realise it until it actually happens and then it's like, Oh, that's what they were talking about.'"
James says he's pleased to get away from his breakthrough character finally.
"I think the second episode we pretty much get away from any Dawson's stuff and get down to satirising actors in general," James shared. "We start making up things on the resume that don't actually exist because it's funnier."
