(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jason Statham would love to play James Bond, but only if Sylvester Stallone took the role of his sexy secretary Miss Moneypenny.

The British actor starred alongside legendary Hollywood hardman Sylvester in The Expendables and loved working with him.

Jason has been linked to the role of the famous English spy for several years, but has never confirmed his involvement.

He has now said he would love to take over from current Bond Daniel Craig when he retires from the franchise – if Sylvester is cast in the film too.

"I have never had a concrete offer, but I keep reading [the scripts] as well. If someone would ask me I would consider it,” Jason told Germany’s In magazine.

“Sylvester Stallone joked some time ago: ‘If you will be Bond, you have to give me the role of Miss Moneypenny.’ With Stallone being the legendary Miss Moneypenny I would get right into it."

Jason has starred in dozens of action films in his career, but says he isn’t upset about being typecast as a tough guy. He admits he probably couldn’t pull off more serious roles, and enjoys the physical nature of his work.

“It seems as if I am struck in this role,” he said. “That's how it is in Hollywood. I don't care, I take it as it comes. I probably wouldn't be suitable to play more demanding roles.

“I don't see myself as a movie star, that sounds strange to me. I am an actor and I try to do my work as well as I can. I see myself more than a craftsman actually: I come to the set in the morning, knock some guys down with my fists and go home in the evening." (C) Cover Media
