Jayma Mays reveals OCD worry

27th July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jayma Mays fears she has an obsessive personality after she subconsciously organised her spice rack in alphabetical order.

The actress is Emma Pillsbury in American high school singing show Glee. Emma has a pathological fear of germs and dirt and Jayma worries some of the character might be rubbing off on her. She's always been neat and tidy, but recently found she was taking things to the next level.

"Emma famously suffers from OCD and I suppose I do have a bit of that. The other day, I noticed I'd arranged my spices in alphabetical order when I was on the phone, without even realising, and when I was a kid I was constantly cleaning and organising things my toys, my sister's cosmetics," she laughed.

Jayma appears in movie The Smurfs, where her character Grace Winslow was pregnant. In real life she is yet to start a family with her husband Adam Campbell, but acting as if she was with child did make her start thinking about being a mom.

"Wearing a fake bump was definitely strange, and even stranger when Adam came to visit the set. We'd just stare at it while other people said things like, You'll be so cute when you're pregnant.' It takes you on a mental trip, and it did make me think about motherhood, but we're not there yet," she told Stylist.

The 32-year-old star fears she took her job too seriously when she was younger. She used to obsess about finding work and now tries to make more time for friends and family.

When she has time off Jayma likes to go out for lunch or throw parties, and is happy with her close group of friends.

"I hang out with more nerdier people than non-nerdy. I have a great fun group of friends from all walks of life we laugh a lot and I think that's really important," she laughed. (C) Cover Media
