Jennifer Aniston: Greeks must love olives

21st July 2011

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jennifer Aniston has joked that Greeks who dislike olives should be "fired" from the country.

The 42-year-old US actress is of Greek heritage on the side of father John Aniston, who was born Yannis Anastassakis on the island of Crete.

Jennifer is proud of her European roots, and embraces healthy Mediterranean cuisine. The star is passionate about olives, a staple part of Greek cuisine, and has argued that any of her fellow countrymen who disliked them shouldn't be allowed to live there.

"I love olives, I love everything about them, and they're salty. I would put them everywhere salad, pasta, pizza... I'm Greek!" she enthused during an interview with BBC Radio One.

"If they don't they should be fired," was her response when asked if all Greek people share her adoration.

Jennifer was quizzed on some rather more obscure topics in addition to her fondness for olives. When asked if she would rather be attacked by a small person with a sword or a giant with a toothpick, the actress decided she would be better equipped at tackling a sword-less attacker.

"A giant person with a toothpick. I have a better shot at hurting him," she asserted. (C) Cover Media
