(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jesse James and Kat Von D had a "fairy tale love story" according to the producer of the tattoo artist's reality show.

The controversial couple, who got together soon after the breakdown of Jesse's marriage to Sandra Bullock, broke up last month and their wedding has been called off.

But Gil Lopez, who is the executive producer of Kat's programme L.A. Ink, said that the couple were madly in love before their relationship imploded.

"We were really able to document what to all of us involved in the story is a fairy tale love story," Gil said of the show.

"We really got full access from the moment they got engaged [in January this year] and how Jesse asked her father and how he proposed, to all the way through her looking for wedding dresses. She was in love, madly in love."

But Gil, who worked closely with Kat during happier times, including going down to Baja with the couple to discuss having their wedding there, says that Kat is not doing too well post-breakup.

"She's bumming. They were both in love. There was the unfortunate distance that tears things apart but she really tried and gave it all," Gil explained

Kat walked off of a television show last week before her interview even started because she was upset the reporters brought up the subject of her split with Jesse. (C) Cover Media
