(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Jesse Williams didn't know "what the heck a Finnick was" when his name was thrown into the mix to play Finnick Odair in Catching Fire.
There has been much speculation surrounding who will play the role of the hunky District victor in the sequel to The Hunger Games, with Armie Hammer and Taylor Kitsch both mentioned.
Grey's Anatomy star Jesse has revealed how he initially felt seeing support from fans of the franchise for him to play the role.
"I have heard that! I've seen a lot of that on Twitter. I didn't know what the heck a Finnick was when I was getting a lot of the questions about it," he told E! Online.
"I've since been educated, and that's fun. People are really, really excited about it. There's a website that's dedicated to itJesse for Finnick. It's kind of taking on a mind of its own. People are creative about that kind of stuff, and now I'll try to figure out if that's something that's interesting to me."
The Hunger Games - starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth - was a box office hit when it hit cinemas earlier this year.
Jesse would be thrilled to join the cast.
"It certainly is a big, successful project, and I read the first book, which was great," he revealed. "In this day and age, I think it matters what the fans think and they envision certain things."
Catching Fire will be directed by Francis Lawrence, after The Hunger Games director Gary Ross bowed out after the first instalment. (C) Cover Media
