The beautiful pop star began dating American footballer Eric Johnson in May and the pair have been inseparable ever since.

Rumours of an engagement began circling recently, and now a spokesperson has confirmed the pair are indeed set to marry.

"Yes, we are excited to confirm that they are engaged!" a representative told People.

Jessica and hunky Eric hit it off immediately after they were introduced to each other by pals. The couple have had a wonderful whirlwind romance so far, and even celebrated Jessicas 30th birthday together on a romantic trip to Italy.

Jessica was previously married to musician Nick Lachey, with the pair splitting in 2005 after three years of marriage. Nick himself has recently become engaged too to actress Vanessa Minnillo.

Jessica and Nick have remained on good terms and the pop singer was thrilled to hear of her ex-husbands upcoming nuptials, admitting she couldnt be more happy for him upon hearing the news. (C) Cover Media
