The 49-year-old actress has two children, Caleb, 12, and eight-year-old Liv, with director Bart Freundlich. The pair have an extremely successful marriage, and Julianne has joked it is down to her refusal to talk about steamy scenes she shoots for movies.

Julianne stars in drama The Kids Are All Right. It was a role that required her to shoot several sex scenes with Mark Ruffalo and the actress says her husband doesnt even know about her semi-nude romps yet.

My husband hasnt seen the film yet but I try not to talk about the sex scenes ever in a film, the star told The Australian Womens Weekly magazine. Its always an issue. Nobody likes it, so the less I talk about it, the better. I act like its not happening and afterwards, I am just like, I dont remember doing that.

Julianne found shooting sex scenes with Mark slightly easier than usual. She is good friend with the actor and his wife and says that made the whole encounter less awkward.

Mark is a really good friend so that made it easier. We spent a lot of time together when we made Blindness in 2008, Julianne explained. We were practically glued together because he was blind and I was leading him around. For four months, he was on top of me, so I know him well. And Im really good friends with his wife.
