(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Justin Bieber has praised girlfriend Selena Gomez for having a "girl-next-door" appeal.

The teen pop sensation and his singer-and-actress girlfriend Selena, 19, proved they are still very much an item at yesterday's Teen Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

The pair, who both scooped a host of prizes at the annual entertainment ceremony, appeared to be happy despite recent rumours of a rift.

Justin even took the time to praise his talented girlfriend, who took to the stage with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene at last night's star-studded bash.

Justin feels his significant other, who was honoured with gongs including Choice Female Hottie and Choice Love Song, has such a wide appeal because she's down to earth.

"I feel like she's relatable to a lot of different teenagers. She's kind of girl-next-door; she's real cool. She's very nice," he gushed to MTV. "She's a very nice girl."

Justin, who himself received prizes such as Choice Male Artist and Choice Male Hottie, predicted his girlfriend would give a storming performance. Top acts including Jason Derlo and OneRepublic took to the stage, although there was only one act on Justin's mind.

"Best performance of the night, Selena Gomez," he beamed, before Selena had even sung a note. (C) Cover Media
