Justin Timberlake: TV taught me to dance

15th October 2010

(Cover) - EN Showbiz - Justin Timberlake is glad he wasted time watching MTV as a child because its where he learnt his dance moves.

The actor-and-singer is renowned for her snake-hipped movements on the dance floor, but insists doesnt actually have that much rhythm. Justin claims he learnt everything he knows from watching music videos on television as a youngster, something he found thoroughly enjoyable.

Justin can currently be seen in new movie The Social Network, about the rise of website Facebook. The star doesnt use the site to keep in touch with his own friends, but can understand why kids are so obsessed with it.

I dont technically dance that well. Any movement I learned was learned by watching the Facebook of my generation which was MTV, he laughed. I think there is always a medium youth will use to waste time and that was mine.

Theres a lot of themes that are embedded in this film that weve been watching for years as movie-goers, like friendship, betrayal, money, power, greed, notoriety, fame, but I find this film to be a film about youth. I think people forget that in real life for a $25 billion company to be run by a 26-year-old, that somebody has to have a brilliant mind. So many people forget theyre a young person and therere going to make mistakes in life.

Justin has no intention of setting up a Facebook page himself, instead using his website to talk to his fans. He thinks he wouldnt be able to relax if he used social networking sites as he cant help thinking there are better ways to spend time.

I try to imagine being on it... I would just feel bad about all the golf I would be missing out on or the dinners I could be having talking to my friends in person, he told BBC Breakfast. (C) Cover Media
