Kabir Khan will direct a film based on 1983 world cup win

Sushant Singh Rajput's M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story is not the only the film unfolding the glamour and sportmanship of the most popularised sport cricket. According to a source, a film based on 1983 world cup victory will soon be directed by filmmaker Kabir Khan.

Earlier a leading daily reported that Phantom films have bagged the rights to recreate India's one of the biggest sporting victories on screen. In the recent past some of the famous cricketers of the 1983 world cup team signed MOUs at a suburban hotel and granted their permission to make the film. They handed the MOUs to Vikas Bahl, Anurag Kashyap and Madhu Mantena

"It goes on the floors later this year, as soon as Kabir wraps up the in-progress Tubelight with Salman Khan. A-list actors who play the cricketing heroes are in the process of being finalised.Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Mohinder Amarnath, Kirti Azad, Krishmachari Srikkanth, Syed Kirmani, Yashpal Sharma, Balwinder Sandhu and even Sunil Gavaskar who had to skip the earlier meet because it was his 67th birthday, will be on board as mentors to the actors," adds the source.

"The film will be shot in various locations because not only will the run-up to the finals be recreated, but it will also uncover the roots of these unlikely heroes including their Jat captain who took a running catch to dismiss Sir Vivian Richards for 33," the source continued.

The 1983 world cup win was historic as till then India was considered to be one of the underdogs and Kapil Dev is the man behind this historic win.
